MRT Jakarta Explores Cooperation with South Korea

PT. MRT Jakarta explores cooperation prospects with South Korea related to MRT Phase 4 line construction.

We are now exploring cooperation with the government and the private sector in South Korea

PT. MRT Jakarta Director William Sabandar said that South Korea has so far shown seriousness and interest in working on the MRT Phase 4 project from the South Korean Government's visit to Indonesia some time ago to discuss the MRT Jakarta construction.

Therefore, his side made a return visit to South Korea to look for investors, both from the government and the private sectors.

"During the visit, we saw South Korea's interest in investing, in terms of funding and others for the Phase 4 (Fatmawati - Taman Mini Indonesia Indah)," he conveyed in Seoul, South Korea, Tuesday (5/31).

According to him, three requirements should be met for this cooperation related to the industry, economic, technical requirements, and support from the government.

"We are at the third point, namely the exploration stage. If both parties (Indonesia and South Korea) have agreed and supported it, then it will be continued," he asserted.

He expressed his optimism that South Korea could become one of the investors in funding MRT development in the future. From the results of the feasibility study, the project would cost at least Rp 20 to 28 trillion.

"MRT Phase 4 is still in progress. We will screen again to determine who will work on the project. This project is carried out under the Government and Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) scheme," he stated.

For information, MRT Phase 4 will be built for 12 kilometers with one depot and 10 stations consisting of seven underground stations and three elevated stations, namely Fatmawati, Antasari, Ampera, Warung Jati, Tanjung Barat, Ranco, Raya Bogor, Tanah Merdeka, Kampung Rambutan, and Taman Mini.
